School Owing To Tropical Cyclones and Thunderstorms

 

1. Tropical Cyclones

Tropical Cyclones normally occur during the months of May to November and are particularly prevalent during September. When tropical cyclones affect Hong Kong , the following general arrangements will apply and appropriate public announcements will be made:

All schools , including kindergartens , to operate as usual.

Hoisting of No.3

Close

Hoisting of No.8 or above

Lowering to No.3

All kindergarten to remain close

Lowering to No.1or lowering all signals

All schools to resume with next session

 

2. Heavy Persistent Rain

 

In the event of rainstorms, the following general arrangements will apply and appropriate public announcements will be made:

All schools, including kindergarten, to operate as usual.

RED or Black

 

(i)  Before the start of AM, whole-  day or PM schools

 

 

 

(ii)After 6:15a.m. for AM and whole-day schools, and after 11:00 a.m. for PM school when some students have already set out for schools

 

 

(iii)When classes are in session

 

 

¨AM or PM schools to close.

¨Whole-day schools to close all day.

¨School tests and evaluation to be postponed to the next day.

 

¨AM or PM classes to be suspended.

¨Whole-day classes to be suspended all day.

¨Schools tests and evaluation to be postponed to the next day.

3. Closure of Schools in individual Districts

 

In exceptional circumstances, the Director of education of Education may announce the closure of schools in only one or just a few districts. Student living in such district should not go to school even if their schools are located elsewhere. Parents should be clear that the district in which our schools are at is WANCHAI DISTRICT.
