A Vote of Thanks to Rosaryhill School

No one will deny the fact that the first few years of life is a critical period for the development of a person. During this period each individual shapes his or her personality, values, thoughts and behaviour. Because of this, early childhood education plays a very important role in one's life and it can determine one's future.

In 2005, my wife and I decided to move to Hong Kong Island from Tsing Yi because we would like our two sons, Anthony and Andy, to have a better learning environment so that they could be well-prepared for their primary education. Finding a good school for one's children is by no means an easy task, especially my two boys are so "lovely" and "special". My wife and I visited a number of kindergartens in Causeway Bay and Wan Chai and finally we found the right place for them... and it was Rosaryhill School. Perhaps one may ask "Why Rosaryhill?" and my answer is rather simple...

With all the efforts made by individual teachers at Rosaryhill,
My wife and I know my sons better.
With all the activities organized by the staff at Rosaryhill,
My family and I always come together.
With all the experience gained by my two sons at Rosaryhill,
My boys and I learn how to love each other.
So if I am asked to choose a kindergarten for my sons again,
I will definitely choose Rosaryhill and not the others.

It is a gift of God that my sons can study at Rosaryhill School. My wife and I are really impressed by the teachers' care for our children. As our boys are in good hands of the teachers, they can learn systematically through a great variety of activities. The school also provides a happy, relaxed and safe environment for my kids to learn effectively. In an atmosphere conducive to learning like this, my two boys can receive whole-person education and develop their full potential.

My wife and I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to the Supervisor, Rev. Fr. Francisco de las Heras, O.P., the Principal, Ms. Anne Wong, and all the teachers of the Kindergarten Section. Without them, my two sons will not have such a wonderful learning experience in their first few years of life.

向校長及各位老師致謝

本人是UC班學生孔竣業之家長。這兩年來感謝校長、各位老師對小兒的關懷、愛護及幫助，令他健康快樂地成長。

特別感謝林楚玉老師

在此要特別向竣業的班主任林楚玉老師致謝。承蒙天主恩典，兩年幼稚園學途上有林老師的悉心教導、愛護、支持和培育，令小兒獲益良多。我真的很高興，小兒在林老師的嚴謹教導下，低班成績班內取得第三名，今年還得到了獎學金，真的給予了本人及竣業很大的鼓勵。竣業答應他會努力讀書，將來要做一個有用的人，對社會作出貢獻；不會辜負林老師的一番苦心。

本人與林老師多次在校內會面，發覺原來林老師是一位非常善良及和藹可親的人，與她相處我覺得很舒服；加上小兒經常都會提起林老師，所以本人知道小兒在校內的生活很開心，本人衷心的感謝﹗無言的感激﹗

小兒快要升上一年級了，在此代他祝校長及各位老師工作愉快﹗身體健康﹗玫瑰崗學校校務蒸蒸日上﹗

回想起三年多前，我們仍居住在馬鞍山，那時為着孩子的入學問題感到徬徨失措，太太偶然記起她就讀玫瑰崗幼稚園時，在聖母山上祈禱的情景，聖母山這地方令她的印象很深刻，於是嘗試報讀。面試當日，山崗上鳥語花香、空氣清新、優美的環境令我們感到驚訝！女兒被取錄後，校方還體貼地安排了 playgroup給幼兒，令他們提早適應校園生活，在這段日子，我們深深地被老師的熱誠和愛心打動，所以決定讓女兒在這裏渡過她的第一段校園生活。

開學了數天，謝老師便致電家中，報告女兒在學校的情況，令到我們非常安心，不久她還邀請我加入家長教師會工作，在會議中，看到校長和老師們熱誠的工作態度，令我這個「被動」的家長亦變得認真起來。後來參與的活動多了，了解到幼兒教育工作其實非常辛勞、壓力亦很大。除了教學的工作和照顧小孩子外，每年校方安排了很多活動給家長參與，如聖誕聯歡會、家長觀課、親子旅行、遊戲日、母親節慶祝會，新春嘉年華會、綜合晚會和PTA週年大會等。印象特別深刻是烏溪沙宿營，老師和我們一同玩遊戲和在星月下的燒烤，實在令人回味。還有在中秋節花燈晚會裏，大家一起在禮堂內欣賞小朋友的表演並享用「到會」的晚餐，我們到處拿着花燈玩耍和孩子的歡笑聲，還歷歷在目。在課外活動方面，校方亦非常體貼，星期六在校中安排了各式各樣的課外活動給小孩子參加，而且收費廉宜，令我們節省了不少時間和金錢。

在學術上，玫瑰崗幼稚園是一所「高程度」的幼稚園，當女兒升上高班後，課程深入了許多，使我這個懶惰的家長亦要變得勤力起來。於是我用紅色的螢光筆把生字寫在白紙上，把它們貼在電視機旁、成為廳中每星期改變一次的裝飾品。其實我們不要看輕小孩子的腦袋，他們的記憶力遠比成年人强得多，而且學多一些英語總比看電視有益，還有根據已畢業的同學家長反映，玫瑰崗的英語已直達小學一年級程度！

在校中我發現很多學生是「世襲」的，他們的哥哥、姐姐甚至父母是在玫瑰崗畢業的舊生。在校園中常常看見學生像蜜蜂般圍着神父叫：「Father, Father… 」，而神父總是像慈父一樣與他們一起交談和說笑。我明白到為甚麼建造新翼的籌款不久便達到目標、而畢業的學生家長會主動回校當義工和扮聖誕老人，一些舊生所經營的玩具廠會贈送玩具給幼稚園的小孩子，因為很多在這裏畢業的學生會把母校當作家庭一樣，他們體會到每位神父、校長和老師用愛去教育每一位學生，這令我想起聖經上說：「天主是愛！」因為玫瑰崗是一所天主教學校。

感謝天主引領女兒在玫瑰崗幼稚園渡過了快樂的童年，在這裏有寧靜優美的環境，裝滿鏡子的音樂室、玩具屋裏的玫瑰大酒樓、超級市場和有三個小孩跪下祈禱的聖母山，這些都是女兒在人生路途上美麗的回憶。特別感謝謝老師在這三年來循循善誘的教導和像母親般無微不至的愛護女兒，亦要感謝黃校長、所有老師和校工姐姐的愛護。其實除了孩子外，作為家長亦不捨得離開這個大家庭。臨別依依願天主眷顧玫瑰崗每一位神父、校長、老師和同學每天過着愉快、精彩的生活。

Words alone cannot wield our hearts to our mouth to thank Rosaryhill Kindergarten properly. My wife and I are deeply grateful for ours and our three children's wonderful experience of a good education in this exceptional school. Yes, we have had a good time too watching our children bloomed and blossomed, one after another, into a confident and happy kid fully prepared and ready to start the next phase of their education. Principal, Anne Wong, and all her excellent teachers and staff in this school showered our children with attention, care and love in God's grace. Our children have been given a good start in life by their "Rosaryhill" experience. We are sure "linqingyan" will always cherish their happy kindergarten experience with fond memories. Thank you.
